AI for Research Administrators

Emory University is committed to giving research administrators access to the latest generative AI tools. Designed for administrators across Emory's research community, this resource supports confident, responsible use of Emory's AI tools. It outlines what tools have been built, how AI can be applied to research administration work, and how to stay aligned with Emory's data privacy and governance guidelines—no technical background required.

ORA Virtual Assistant and Microsoft Copilot

You already have access to Microsoft Copilot Work — the version you sign into with your Emory email through Microsoft 365. It is not the same tool as the ORA Virtual Assistant. They serve different purposes and work best when used together.

The bottom line: Use both. The ORA VA gives you accurate, ORA-specific answers grounded in verified institutional content. Copilot Work helps you work more efficiently within your own M365 environment. Neither replaces the other — and neither replaces a human ORA expert for high-stakes compliance decisions.
